Frequently Asked Questions

How does life coaching differ from therapy?

The primary difference between a therapist and a coach is that therapists tend to focus more on the past or present while coaches tend to focus more on the present and the future. Therapists are often more focused on cognitions while coaches are often more focused on behaviors. I help people move forward and set personal goals that will give them the life that they really want.

Why is life coaching so popular?

A coach can guide you through finding your true purpose, overcoming your fears, unlock your potential, reduce stress, stay motivated, be open-minded, determine your strengths and weaknesses, foster better relationships, improve your self-confidence, get a different perspective, create a balanced life, and discover your best self.

What about confidentiality?

What happens in our sessions stays in our sessions. I fully understand the value of your trust, and I take every precaution to protect it.

How often should we meet?

I typically meet with clients once a week. I’ve found that this frequency yields the greatest returns in terms of change. Meeting once a week offers time for reflection and application of learning between sessions, while maintaining the momentum of our work together.

How long does the life coaching process take?

The time frame can vary greatly and depends on a wide range of factors: your goal(s), your commitment and openness to change, your capacity for introspection, your circumstances, and other unique factors. Depending on your goal(s) the process can take anywhere from 1 month, and sometimes over a year if you have multiple goals.

What happens during a session?

Life coaching sessions will typically last between 45 minutes to an hour. Often, after an initial assessment, sessions can be conducted face-to-face or remotely, via video calls. During the session, I will ask you some questions, such as what you want to achieve in life, what areas you're unhappy with and where you'd like to see yourself in the future. Although I will provide guidance, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas centered around moving forward with your life. I view life coaching as a partnership between you and myself. I will gently encourage you to explore how to make positive changes in your life based on your aspirations.
